Abstract
A forward/reverse change-over mechanism () of an automatic transmission comprises a forward clutch () inside a drum () with the base () which rotates together with an input shaft (). The forward clutch () engages by driving a piston () housed in the drum () by the oil pressure of an oil chamber () between a base () and the piston (). Projecting bearings () which seat the piston () are formed by press-forming at equal angular intervals concentrically with the axial center of the drum () in the base (). By installing a sensor body () which responds to the passage of depressions () formed underneath the bearings (), the forward/reverse change-over mechanism () can be made compact and manufactured with a small number of parts and machining steps.
