Abstract
A prismis formed which has a first faceopposing an end face of an optical fiberand receiving a light-to-be-received from the optical fiber, second and third facesandadjoining opposite ends of the first faceat right angles and opposing each other, a fourth facefor reflecting the light-to-be-received from the facetoward the face, and a fifth facereflecting a light-to-be-transmitted as projected from a light source through the facetoward the face. First and second light-to-be-received converging lensesandare disposed on the facesandof the prismand first and second light-to-be-transmitted converging lensesandare disposed on the facesand. The tilt angles βand βof the facesandwith respect to the optical fiber axisare less than 45°. With this configuration, if the light-to-be-received enters the light-receiving elementand the light-emitting elementand is reflected by these elements, such reflected light is prevented from returning back into the optical fiber whereby occurrence of far-end crosstalk can be suppressed.
