Abstract
A clutch assembly () for a fan drive system () of an engine () includes a translatable clutch housing () that is coupled to a fan (). A rotating shaft () has a non-grooved thermal energy transfer portion () that is coupled to a drive pulley () of the engine (). A liner () resides between and is engageable with the rotating shaft () and the translatable clutch housing (). The engagement thereof generates thermal energy. The non-grooved thermal energy transfer portion () has a cross-sectional thickness (T) of approximately less than 11 mm and transfers a significant portion of the thermal energy to the drive pulley ().
