Abstract

The invention includes a method for the passivation of the surface of an intraocular lens, wherein the surface includes Brönsted sites. The intraocular lens is dipped into a solution of a fluoroalkyl silane having the general formula: R—(CH)—Si—(O—R). The residue R is selected from the group of H, CH, CHand CHand the fluoroalkyl residue Ris selected from the series CF(CF), with m=3 to 11 and n=0 to 4. The Brönsted sites on the surface are thereby deactivated by formation of Si—Q—bonds.
