Abstract

A shadow mask stretched in such a manner that tension is applied in a vertical direction includes a plurality of arrays of apertures in which a first aperture, a second aperture, a third aperture, and bridges between these apertures are aligned in a vertical direction. Assuming that a horizontal line passing through a center in the vertical direction of each bridge is a horizontal center line, and vertical spacings between the horizontal center lines of pairs of bridges that respectively sandwich the first aperture, the second aperture, and the third aperture in the vertical direction are P, P, and Pin this order, the relationships: P=N×Pand P=N×P(N, Nare natural numbers, 1<N<N) are satisfied. Vertical spacings between the horizontal center lines with respect to all the bridges included in two arrays of apertures adjacent in the horizontal direction are substantially constant. Because of this, a color cathode-ray tube can be provided in which a horizontal streak pattern and color displacement due to doming can be reduced, and a display image quality is enhanced.
