Abstract
A terminal fitting has a rectangular tube () formed with a locking hole (). A resilient contact piece () is in the rectangular tube () for contacting a tab of a mating terminal fitting. Displacement restricting portions (F,R,F,R) are provided in the rectangular tube () at positions before and behind the locking hole () for contacting lateral edges of the resilient contact piece () and restricting displacement of a resilient contact piece () towards a tab entrance space (). Thus, external matter that may intrude through the locking hole () can not cause a damaging deformation of the resilient contact piece ().
