Abstract
In a high-speed phase change ink image producing machine having a controller, there is provided apparatus and a method of using it to mount an ink jet printhead unit in an ink jet printing machine for minimizing printing defects due thermal expansion effects. The method includes (a) first mounting a low coefficient of thermal expansion (LCTE) member, having a first end, a second end and a center, to a portion of a frame of the printing machine; (b) next mounting ink jet printhead unit, having a first end, a second end and a center, to an expansible carriage device, having a first end, a second and a center, to form a printhead assembly; and (c) expansibly mounting the expansible carriage device of the printhead assembly to the LCTE member.
