Abstract
The invention relates to an exhaust gas recirculation meansfor an internal combustion enginewith an air supply linewhich has an air coolerand which is connected to the air inletof the internal combustion engine, and with an exhaust pipewhich is connected to the exhaust gas outletof the internal combustion engine, the exhaust pipebeing connected by way of a closable exhaust gas recirculation lineto the air supply line, and the exhaust gas recirculation linebeing connected in the flow direction to the air supply lineupstream from the air cooler. Furthermore the invention relates to a process for operating such an exhaust gas recirculation means. To improve the dynamics of the internal combustion engine, for the exhaust gas recirculation meansit is proposed that the air coolerhas a bypass air line. With respect to the process for operating the exhaust gas recirculation meansit is proposed that in the aforementioned exhaust gas recirculation means, when the exhaust gas recirculation lineis at least partially opened, the bypass air lineis at least partially opened and the cooler supplyis closed.
