Range-extending method and apparatus for testing the viscosity of a fluid () undergoing a state change utilizing a viscometer () with a rotary assembly () for measuring, by automatically changing the rotational speed of the rotary assembly in response to measuring a torque or other test parameter when it meets a target torque trigger and/or other test parameter threshold.
