Abstract

The invention provides an electrochemical cell which includes a first electrode and a second electrode which is a counter electrode to the first electrode, and an electrolyte. The first electrode includes a polyanion-based electrode active material. The electrochemical cell is in a heat transfer relationship with a heat dissipation subassembly containing one or more passive heat sinks for dissipating heat generated by the cell.
