Abstract
Systems and methods for invoking location-based services on a mobile station are provided. An server receives an invocation request from a client entity. The server communicates the invocation request to a gateway, which generates the message for the destination mobile station and sends this message to a message center. The message includes parameters that identify one or more applications that are resident on the mobile station. The mobile station includes a receiver for receiving the message from the mobile communication network and a processor for invoking the identified applications by executing program code instructions that are configured to perform a location-based service or function. Further features, such as the passing of parameters to the invoked application, are also provided.
