Abstract

In a self light emitting display device of the present invention, a first electrodefor example formed of a thin film of ITO is formed in a striped pattern on a glass substrate, and a film of a light emission functional layeris formed thereon. A metallic second electrodeis formed on the light emission functional layer, and a light transmitting sealing memberfor example formed of a glass material is superimposed on the second electrode. Aperturesfor allowing image light from the light emission functional layerto pass through are formed on a part of the second electrode, a first light emitting area Lis formed in the glass substrateside, and a second light emitting area Lis formed in the sealing memberside. As a result, display images can be visually recognized on both front and rear surfaces.
