Abstract

There are provided: detection sectionsfor detecting an edge of discsso as to be laterally symmetrical about a center, at a lower edge portion inside a long sideways openingof a front panel; and a detection sectionfor detecting a reflective foilhaving lack portionsput on a lower surface of a tray. If the disc is not in a regular mounting position in the tray, the disc may be prevented from falling to the inside of the drive by detecting the discsmounted in a misaligned state and discontinuing an operation of pulling the trayin, with the combination of detection outputs from those three detection sections.
