Abstract

A seismic streamer stretch section includes at least one spring member. The section includes means for coupling the at least one spring member at each end to at least one of a seismic streamer and a seismic lead in cable, and a cable coupled at its ends to the means for coupling. The cable is capable of carrying electrical and/or optical signals. The cable is formed such that it undergoes substantially no axial strain when the spring member is elongated.
