Abstract

A method () (and equipment adapted to operate according to the method) for enabling or disabling (i.e. triggering) an attribute of communication between a UE device and a NodeB under the control of a RNC using System Information Blocks (SIBs) as a way of configuring communication channels provided by the RNC, the method including: a step () in which the NodeB configures itself for communication with the UE device according to a trigger field () consisting of typically several bits corresponding to one or more attributes and included in one or more SIBs; and a step () in which the NodeB transmits to the UE device the SIB(s) including the trigger field. A multi-bit trigger field can be used to simultaneously control either a number of attributes, or can be interpreted as indicating a value of a single, multi-level attribute (or can be used both ways at the same time).
