Abstract
A battery contact mechanism () including a battery contact spring () for electrically connecting a battery () with electronic componentry () within a battery-powered device (), such as, for example, a portable, hand-held GPS unit or personal digital assistant (PDA). The battery contact mechanism () includes a single-piece battery contact spring (), including a center section (), an upper tang () for contacting the battery (), and a lower tang () for contacting the electronic componentry (); a post or rib projection () for securing the spring () within the device (); and a sealant reservoir () for preventing leakage of moisture or other substances to the electronic componentry ().
