Abstract

An intervertebral disk prosthesis having an essentially hollow cylindrical base element () which is provided with a casing () that is embodied as a bellows, a top end (), and a bottom end (), and a central longitudinal axis (). The base element also includes an upper apposition plate (), which is disposed perpendicular to the longitudinal axis () at the top end () of the base element () and rests on the base plate of the vertebra, and a lower apposition plate (), which is arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal axis () at the bottom end () of the base element () and leans on the cover plate of a vertebra. The casing () serves a spring element having a defined spring rate.
