Abstract
A plurality of stepsare connected to a pair of step chainswound around step chain sprockets. The step chain sprocketsdrives the step chainsto turn the step chainsthrough a forward path, a return path, and reversing areas at the opposite ends of the forward path and the return path. Front wheelsare supported on shafts attached to the opposite side surfaces of a front part of the stepand connected to the step chains, respectively. Rear wheelsare supported on a rear part of the step. Front wheel guide railssupporting and guiding the front wheelsand rear wheel guide railsfor supporting and guiding the rear wheelsguides the stepin the forward path. In the reversing area, in which the step is inverted, an auxiliary step guide means including auxiliary rollersand auxiliary roller guide railscontrols the position of the stepsuch that the rear wheels approach a connecting shaftsupporting the step chain sprockets. The depthwise dimension of a part, corresponding to the reversing unit, of a frame is small.
