An optical disc unitcomprises: reflective surface detection meansfor detecting a reflective surface; focus control means (and) for performing focus control to a reflective surface so that the distance between the focal point of an optical beam applied to an optical discand the reflective surface is within a predetermined error limit; shift meansfor shifting the focal point of the optical beam in a direction perpendicular to the optical disc; and control meansfor controlling the focus control means and the shift means.
