Abstract
An automotive side impact assemblyis provided. The automotive side impact assemblyincludes a door assemblyhaving a door body portionand a window opening portion. The door body portionand said window opening portionmeet to form a beltline. A window assemblyis positioned within the window opening portionand extends into the door body portionwhen in a window closed condition. An automotive seat assemblyis positioned adjacent said door assembly. A side-impact air bag assemblyis positioned within the automobilesuch that the side air-bagis deployed between the door assemblyand the automotive seat. The side-impact air bag assemblyhas a deployed condition in which a side air-bagis deployed during a collision. A laminate assemblyis in communication with the window assemblyand has an upper laminate portionextending above the beltlineinto the window opening portionwhen the window assemblyis in the window closed condition. The laminate assemblyhas a lower laminate portionextending below the beltlineinto the door body portionwhen the window assemblyis in the window closed position. The laminate assemblyprovides structural rigidity to the window assemblysuch that the side air-bagis supported during deployment.
