In a medical guide wire, a rear half of a leading bulge portion (ellipsoidal helical spring)forms a truncated cone shaped front catheter engagement portion. An inner wall of a balloon catheterforms a flared end portionA which absorbably fits into the front catheter engagement portiondue to the physical adhesion so to provisionally connect the balloon catheterto the front catheter engagement portion.
