An apparatusfor detecting and evaluating objects in the vicinity of a vehicle, having transmitting and receiving means for electromagnetic radiation in the Gigahertz range, includes at least one antenna protected by a radome. The radomeis designed as lens-shaped in such a way that beam focusing and/or beam pivoting of the broadcast electromagnetic radiation is made possible.
