Abstract
A composition in the form of a biodegradable gel, chip or ointment is provided, for adjunct treatment of periodontitis, comprising: (i) an antimicrobial extract having antimicrobial or antibacterial activity against periodontal pathogens, preferably from one or more of the plants, mangosteen () and turmeric (); and (ii) a gel base containing a mixture of glyceryl monooleate and triglyceride.
