Abstract

This invention relates to a novel estrogen receptor-related nuclear receptor, hereinafter termed 'ERβ' having the amino acid sequence of FIG.A orA or substantially the same amino acid sequence as the amino acid sequence shown in FIG.A orB or an amino acid sequence functionally similar to that sequence. The invention also relates to DNA sequences encoding the receptor. The receptor may be useful in isolating molecules for the treatment of disorders such as prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, osteoporosis or cardiovascular disorders and in the testing of substances for estrogenic and other hormonal effects.
