Abstract
A lamp assemblyhas a light sourcehaving two sealed electrodes, sealed in a seal areaand defining a lamp axis. A concave shellhas an internal surfacewith a reflective surfaceformed thereon. The concave shellhas a neckdefining a neck cavityand a reflector axis. The neckis provided with an electrical connectionand a mechanical support for the light source. The shellsurrounds the sourceto reflect light from the sourceto a field to be illuminated during lamp operation. The sourceand the reflector surfaceare oriented with the lamp axissubstantially co-axial with the reflector axis, and at least a portion of at least one of the electrodes, for example,, extends into the neck cavity. A zoneis formed in the neck cavityfor substantially redirecting specular reflection away from the seal area.
