Compounds of formula I: wherein Arand Arare optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl, L is a bond, ═CH— or —(CHR)—, and X is SCN, SR, S(O)R, (CRR)SOR, SON(R), SONHCOR, SONHN(R), OSON(R, OS(O)N(R), OSONHCOR, COR, NHCOR, NHCOR, NHCON(R), NHSORor NHSON(R), inhibit the processing of APP by gamma secretase, and hence are useful in treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
