Abstract
A process is disclosed for manufacturing N-methyl-N-phenylaminoacrolein of formula (I) which comprises reacting N-methylformanilide and an alkyl vinyl ether of formula (III) wherein R is a C–Calkyl, said process being characterized in that the reaction between N-methylformanilide and said alkyl vinyl ether of formula (III) is carried out in the presence of phosgene, diphosgene or triphosgene in a solvent selected from dioxane, acetonitrile and/or chlorobenzene.
