Abstract

The invention relates to a positioning instrument () for inserting an extension shell () into a human or animal bone, especially a pelvic bone. Said instrument comprises a fixing device () for fixing the extension shell () to the positioning instrument (), and a displacement device () for displacing a disc element () of the positioning instrument () at least essentially axially in relation to the extension shell () fixed to the fixing device (). Said disc element () co-operates with beveled surfaces (to) of the extension shell () during the displacement, in order to tighten the extension shell (). Furthermore, the disc element ()-viewed in the direction of insertion ()-does not project beyond the radially furthest projecting elements () of the tightened extension shell ().
