Abstract
A tightening and untightening tool for a roll bearing assembly of a rolling mill has a box-shaped body of toroidal shape with a central hole fitting around the cylindrical end part of a back-up roll. It has drive keys that slide into corresponding drive splines on the outside of the locknut and a torque reaction slot that fits over a reaction plate. The tool is provided with a hydraulic drive motor for tightening with bearing locknut against a thrust bearing.
