Abstract

A solid catalyst component for olefin polymerization comprising titanium, magnesium and a compound of the general formula (I) wherein Rand Rare independently a Cstraight or branched hydrocarbon group, Ris hydrogen or a Cstraight hydrocarbon group, Ris a Cstraight or branched hydrocarbon group or a Caliphatic cyclic hydrocarbon group when Ris hydrogen, Ris the same Cstraight hydrocarbon group as Rwhen Ris a Cstraight hydrocarbon group, and n is an integer of 1 to 10. A catalyst for olefin polymerization, containing this catalyst component, obtains a high activity with high stereospecificity.
