An apparatus and method for stowage of flexible linear objects including optical fibers, hoses, ropes, and electrical wires/cables. The apparatus includes spreader structures dimensioned and configured to stow objects in aconfiguration to reduce potential factures sites, snagging, or kinking of these items during winding and/or unwinding.
