Abstract
A multi-part output paper trayincluding a plurality of tray platestoslidably arranged together in a paper eject direction is attached to a printer assemblyso that it can be extended/collapsed, the printer assemblyincluding a print head attached thereto for forming an image on recording paper. The extended/collapsed state of the output paper trayis detected by an angle sensor. A print operation is not performed when it is detected by the angle sensorthat the output paper trayis in the housed state, and a print operation is performed when the output paper trayis in the extended state.
