Abstract

A system and method are disclosed to mitigate the interference on DSL due to high frequency components associated with a change in a POTS condition, such as POTS ringing. In response to detecting that a potentially disruptive POTS condition is to about to occur, downstream DSL traffic can be temporarily stopped. The stoppage can include downstream traffic of voice and/or data.
