Abstract

A female terminal fitting () has a main portion () that can be inserted into a cavity. An engaging portion () for engaging a lock () in the cavity is folded back from the front of the main portion (). The fold () is rounded and contacts the lock () when the terminal fitting () is inserted into a cavity. Thus, resistance to insertion is low. The engaging portion () is distanced from an opposed surface () of the main portion () by an embossment (). Thus, a large area of engagement with the lock () exists. A slanted surface () is formed at a corner of a locking surface () closer to the ceiling plate (). Thus, the leading end of the lock () intrudes at the inner side of the slanted surface () to prevent the lock () from escaping.
