Abstract

An organic EL device includes a transparent substrate (), an anode (), a hole injection layer (), a hole transport layer (), an luminescent layer (), an electron transport multilayered body (), a cathode-side electron transport layer (), and a cathode () formed on the substrate () in that order. The electron transport multilayered body () includes alternate layered two kinds of electron transport layers (A,B) having electron affinities that are different from each other. Increasing the amount of electron current injected from the cathode () for balancing with the amount of hole current, and enhancing luminous efficiency.
