Abstract

The invention relates to processes for preparing a compound of the formula (V) and alkyl boronic esters thereof wherein Ris attached at the 2 or 3 position of the benzene ring, Ris attached at the 5 or 6 position, and R, Rand G are as defined herein. Said compound is a key synthetic intermediate in the preparation of 2-amino-6-(substituted-4-phenoxy)-substituted-pyridines useful as nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitors in a mammal.
