A stop element () is used to open a gripper clamp () of a weaving machine () and is associated to the gripper clamp's stop piece () and the stop element during the slow mode operation of the weaving machine is transversely moved into the path of the gripper clamp's stop piece () after the clamp already has moved into the vicinity of the stop element ().
