A receiver in which, when a picture of television broadcast demonstrated on a picture display device is to be printed, the picture selected by the user can be checked without intermission of pictures of television broadcast. When a command for printing a picture demonstrated on a display monitoris inputted from a command input unit, picture data held by the frame memoryis outputted as printing data from a print data outputting unit. The picture data held by the frame memoryis synthesized to data of the next picture supplied from the picture color signal circuit unit. The resulting synthesized picture data is outputted as display data from a display data output unit. The display monitorgenerates e.g., a picture-in-picture type slave image plane in which to display the print image.
