Abstract
A zero insertion force (ZIF) electrical connector () includes a base (), a cover () mounted on the base, and an actuation member () for actuating the cover to slide along the base. The base defines a chamber in an end thereof, a hole () in the same end. The actuation member is received in the chamber, including a driving member (), a spring-holding shaft () inserted into the hole and a spring () attached around the spring-holding shaft. An end of the spring securely engages the spring-holding shaft and an opposite end of the spring abuts against the operating lever. The spring is compressed once the operating lever is moved in a halfway from a locking position to an unlocking position of the actuation member, so as to resume itself to urge the actuation member toward the unlocking position automatically and completely.
