Abstract

The present invention provides a machine tool capable of enhancing chip discharge efficiency and improving work efficiency with improved approachability to a spindle. A machine tool according to the present invention is structured such that a recessionwith a back face side and an upper face side thereof opened is formed at a center portion of a bed, Y-axis guide railsand Y-axis ball screws (drive shafts)for guiding and driving the saddleare disposed on right and left saddle supports (edges)of the recessionand are covered with right and left Y-axis cutting covers, the right and left Y-axis cutting coversare formed in an inclined shape with the recessionside thereof becoming lower, and a chip receptorfor discharging chips dropped into the recessionto a back face side of the bedis disposed in the recession
