An N-heteroaryl-4-(haloalkyl)nicotinamide derivative represented by formula (I):[wherein R represents a C–Chaloalkyl group; Rrepresents a hydrogen atom, a C–Calkyl group which may be substituted a C–Calkenyl group or an acyl group; X represents a group represented by formula C—R, or a nitrogen atom; Rand Reach independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C–Calkyl group which may be substituted, a C–Ccycloalkyl group, a C–Calkenyl group, a C–Ccycloalkenyl group, a formyl group, a group represented by formula CH═NOR, a cyano group, a phenyl group which may be substituted, a heterocyclic group which may be substituted, a C–Calkoxy group which may be substituted, a C–Calkylthio group or a phenoxy group]; or a salt thereof, a pesticide containing it as an active component, a method for producing it and intermediates thereof.
