Abstract
An external storage deviceincludes a semiconductor memory, a hard diskhaving an access speed lower than that of the semiconductor memory, a judgment partfor determining whether or not data can be stored in the semiconductor memory, and an access processing partfor compressing and storing data into the semiconductor memoryafter it is determined that the data can be stored in the semiconductor memory, and for storing the write data into the hard diskwhen it is determined that the data cannot be stored in the semiconductor memory. The storage capacity of the external storage deviceis larger than the storage capacity of the semiconductor memory
