A beacon () adapted for use in an arrangement () for providing an information service, comprising a storage () for storing data related to the information service, local communication means () for establishing a short range communication link () with a mobile device (), and a processor () adapted for autonomously performing the service based on the data in the storage () with the mobile device () using the short range communication link (). The arrangement () preferably further comprises a server () arranged to receive data to be used in the information service from a terminal () and to forward the received data to the beacon () over the long range communication link ().
