Abstract

A stationary arranged sensor () is provided in the region of one of the dead centers of the piston movement to monitor the position of the path of motion of a piston () relative to a cylinder () whereby the sensor () measures the lateral distance (a) to an indicator unit () arranged on the piston (). The sensor () is arranged in a recessed position relative to the inner surface of the cylinder () and is sealed toward the cylinder chamber () by means of a cover (), and the indicator unit () on the piston () is designed as an anomaly () that is non-sensitive to contaminating deposits in the area of the face () of the piston ().
