Abstract
Disc openers () for use with an air seeder (), are configured for seeding and fertilizing a field (G). The opener () broadly includes a drawbar assembly (), a disc assembly () including a coulter disc () and a gauge wheel (), a seed boot (), a fertilizer injector wing (), a firming wheel assembly (), and a closing wheel assembly (). The fertilizer injector wing () is configured for fixed attachment to the seed boot () and broadly includes a body (), including an angled outboard portion (), a toxic fertilizer injector (), and a non-toxic fertilizer injector (). The opener () with the fertilizer injector wing () is configured to place the seed row (S) and the dedicated fertilizer band (DB) at an optimum geometric positional alignment relative to the seed row (S), in a single, low soil disturbing planting pass without disrupting the seed bed (BS).
