Abstract
A glassy chiral-nematic liquid crystal composition includes a compound having the structural formulawherein each N represents a nematic group connected to the 1, 3, 5-benzenetricarbonyl central moiety by a carboxylic ester linkage and Ch represents a chiral group connected to the central moiety by a carboxylic ester linkage. An optical device is formed from at least one of the glassy chiral-nematic liquid crystal compositions.
