Abstract
A fitting for a vehicle seat, having a first fitting part (), and a second fitting part () which is rotatable and lockable relative to the first fitting part (). At least one locking element () is arranged for movement in a radial direction, with its opposite longitudinal sides () being guided along guide surfaces () on the first fitting part (), and the locking element includes at least one tooth () which cooperates, on its radially outer side, with toothing () on the second fitting part () for the purposes of locking. Each of the longitudinal sides () has at least one step () dividing the respective longitudinal side () into a first section () and an adjacent second section () which extends between the step () and the tooth (), and the second section () is set back relative to the first section () with respect to the associated guide surface () to permit the locking member to tilt when the second fitting part is impacted.
