Abstract
In the planetary skew rolling blooms to form seamless metal tubing or pipe the internal tool is retracted at the leading and/or trailing end of the tubular bloom to allow the rolls to seal the end or ends and prevent coolant from entering the rolled tubing or bloom. The internal tool is advanced back into its normal rolling position after the end has passed the rolling location.
