Abstract
Apparatus and corresponding method in a wireless mobile device () for classifying each of a plurality of audio bits obtained from a vocoder () into one class of a plurality of classes according to a predetermined importance of each audio bit, wherein each of the plurality of classes has an associated error correction process and an associated repeat diversity process. Error correction and repeat diversity are applied to a portion of the plurality of classes based on the associated error correction and repeat diversity processes. The method may be implemented by a processor () executing routines stored in a memory ().
