Abstract

A phosphor for vacuum ultraviolet ray-excited light-emitting elements which comprises a compound represented by the following formula (I):MMMMMMO  (I)(wherein Mis at least one element selected from the group consisting of La, Y and Gd, Mis at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ce and Tb, Mis at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr and Ba, Mis at least one element selected from the group consisting of Mg and Zn, Mis at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al and Ga, and Mis at least one element selected from the group consisting of Mn and Eu, and a, b, c, d, e and f are numbers satisfying the conditions of 0≦a<1, 0≦b≦0.6, 0≦c≦0.5, 0≦d≦0.5, 0≦e<1, 0≦f<1, a+b+c+d<1 and 0<c+d+e+f), respectively.
